“I know, I walked out of my house to go to school this morning, and I found Sally Larson lying dead in a ditch!”
“That’s awful,” Elizabeth said, tears springing to her eyes. “I totally forgot about her.”
“I’m pretty sure everyone else is in trouble, too,” Enid said. “When I got to school this morning, the only other student that showed up was Lois Waller. And this was posted on the door to Mr. Collins’ classroom.”
Elizabeth took the piece of paper that Enid handed to her. It read, “If you want to see Jessica Wakefield again, meet us at some shady warehouse downtown at 3 o’clock.”
Elizabeth checked her watch. “It’s almost 2!” she exclaimed. “We don’t have much time!”
“Do you think we should get the police involved?” Enid asked.
“Of course not,” Elizabeth said. “Everyone knows that the Sweet Valley Police Department is worthless. They rely on teenagers to solve all the crimes around here.” Date rape warehouse, here we come

Jayden laughed. “You look rather uncomfortable, Bruce,” he said.
“Well, I don’t kiss guys, now,” Bruce said quickly, casting a sideways glance at Chase and Owen.
Jayden and Ava looked at each other and Ava wrinkled her nose in disgust. “Wow, I totally wasn’t going to ask you to kiss a guy,” she said. “But I mean, if you’re into that, more power to you.” More twisted perfection inside

“Eh, he’s okay,” Bruce said snidely. “I’ll tell you what, though, he makes an excellent margarita.” He snorted. “Damn illegal immigrants.”
“Now, Bruce,” Elizabeth said with a coy smile, “you know I don’t drink – not without being forced to, anyway.”
“Well, then,” Bruce said, drawing her close, his voice growing husky, “I guess I’m just going to have to force you.”
“Speaking of which, I actually just came to ask you a few more questions for my article on date rape,” Elizabeth said quickly, extracting herself from his grip. Bruce Patman certainly is handsome, she thought. And dangerous. More twisted perfection inside

Lila managed to flash Jessica a big smile. “Isn’t it great?”
“Yeah, just great,” Jessica muttered.
“Well, Jessica, you’ll still be the star,” Cara said soothingly, placing a hand on her shoulder. “Apparently, you and Elizabeth are going to be the centerpiece of the film.”
Jessica perked up. “The centerpiece?”
“Well, that might not be so bad,” Lila said with a smirk. “At least you’ll get to share top billing with your sister.”
“You know, Lila, you have total bitchface right now,” she shot back. More twisted perfection inside

Elizabeth put down her red pen. She had been copy editing the latest edition of The Oracle for two hours now. Why did she always seem to be the only one in The Oracle office after school every day? Sure, they had an editor-in-chief, an arts editor and they did have a sports editor – before he got crazy, tried to date rape Lila and then ended up blowing himself up – but it seemed Elizabeth single-handedly put out every edition of the school newspaper.
She wondered why there were so many would-be date rapists in Sweet Valley and made a mental note to write an investigative piece on the phenomenon. But first, she needed to put this edition of The Oracle to bed – and she needed to investigate the “Skanks Gone Stupid” crew.
Mr.Collins, the faculty advisor for The Oracle, entered the office and peered over Elizabeth’s shoulder. “What are you working on there, Elizabeth?”
Elizabeth practically jumped out of her seat. “Goodness, Mr. Collins,” she said. “You just about scared me half to death.”
“Relax, Elizabeth,” he said, placing a firm hand on her shoulder. “It’s just me. And you. Alone. In this secluded office. Two hours after school has ended.” More twisted perfection inside
